It is through the learning process we identify and train adherents of Liberty in Public Policy Process. As a public policy think tank LGNepal focuses on government policies. LGNepal sponsors research on specific problems, encourages the discovery of solutions, and facilitates interaction among scientists and intellectuals in pursuit of these goals. In fact, the most important sources of political change are not politicians, political parties or financial contributions, rather they are ideas generated on college campuses, in think tanks and in other research organizations. The battle centers around our shared belief that people should be free. They should be free to engage in trade, to travel where they want, to think what they want, to live where they want. They should be free to choose who to associate with and how they want to associate. They should be free to pursue the education they want, the profession they want, and the businesses they want.
Our operations
Our purpose is to find out the root causes of problems and their relation to government policies. Generally, we follow research based analyses of the issues that have public importance challenging the conventional wisdom. We present our analyses in front of stakeholders and encourage them to come up with sustainable solutions! Nonetheless, our collaborators should share a common vision of advancing individual freedom, and reducing arbitrary government power. To attain it, our communication modes are both verbal and written. We categorically work on three levels of people.
Outreach
- Changing the way key decision-makers and the general public look at community issues or problems.
- Creating a reliable, consistent stream of publicity or media focus for your agency’s issues and activities.
- Explaining how these problems could and should be solved.
- Motivating community members and policy makers to get involved.
Advocacy
Advocacy is an action directed at changing policies, positions or programs of the organization. It presents, defends and recommends an idea before other people. It intends to persuade, is focused on a specific change of attitude or behavior.
Publication of Journal
It is the most ambitious project that the think tank would handle. Journal that we are going to be publishing will be first of its kind in South Asia that promotes free-market public policy. Every issue is a valuable resource for scholars concerned with questions of public policy, yet it is written and edited to be accessible to the interested lay reader. Publication of journal is a long term goal and coordination with leading think tanks as like Centre for Civil Society, India and Alternate Solutions Institute, Pakistan. A scholarly panel shall be formed.
Internships
We offer internship opportunities for students to develop their minds, articulate their opinions, and discover how to creatively, positively express their libertarian viewpoints in class and on campus. These opportunities however, would be based on university vacations and are unpaid. Students can learn about current public policy issues, help coordinate events with leaders, and research and write about issues affecting their campus. We foresee, internship opportunities to young minds across the country would change lives forever after their time with us.
Interns will have the opportunity to observe public policy process first hand and work directly on these issues. We’d expect interns every year, here go on to do wonderful things, using the skills they developed here to further their educational goals and careers. In general, associates must be organized, responsible, independent, and effective under deadlines.

Seminars/ Workshops/ Discussions
Seminars are forums in which issues are raised and explored, but not necessarily resolved; they require you to think, to practice the skills of analysis and synthesis, and by doing so, possibly leave with more and better ideas than the ones with which you came. Seminars do closely resemble orchestral rehearsals. They are working sessions, full of false starts, much practice, and some extended flights of analysis and synthesis. Incentives as like academic scholarships will be established to entertain and engage more and more academics. Our plan is to establish a regular libertarian retreat where selected authors would contemplate on the libertarian ideas.
Economics Neglected Lectures
- Lectures with Prof. Bishwamber Pyakuryal (bio) and Prof. Cristopher Lingle (bio). Preparing Economic Agenda for Constitution Assembly in Globalizing World (September 15, 2007)
- Prof. Cristopher Lingle delivered lecture to more than 150 students of Tribhuvan University on Globalization and Cultural Trend (September 17, 2007)
Campaigns
Campaign is a program that is planned to have maximum effect toward a specific goal within a defined time frame. Increase public awareness about the libertarian ideas and public pressure on Government to take off its hands from intrusive policies.
LGNepal organized a Freedom Rally on October 12, 2007. The slogan for the rally was ‘In Defense of My Personal Freedom’. More than 100 youth participated demanding individual freedom is the basis of every thing. The rally started from Minbhawan (Nepal Commerce Campus) and ended in Guheshowri. It traveled 30 Km.
Essay Competition
Personal and professional success come from grace, hard work, dignity, faith, commitment to family, unwavering values, and strength. For this reason we help student’s activism in their campus to bring viewpoints by hosting leaders on the liberty movement from across the world. These events are centered on the need for academic excellence in education through balanced debate and discussion about important public policy issues. |
